Job summary
This position is responsible for installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of low voltage systems such as security, cameras, access control, fire alarm, and sound, as well as structured cabling, and business telephones. Work is performed in both commercial and residential settings.

Duties and responsibilities
The primary job duties and responsibilities are to travel to customer location to:
- Install, program, maintain and perform on-site repair of security and fire alarm wiring and equipment ensuring that work is performed in accordance with relevant codes
- Install, program and troubleshoot the latest in IP and analog camera surveillance, fire/burglary alarm, and access control devices
- Install and terminate structured cabling

Examples of specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Demonstrate systems for customers and explain details, such as the causes and consequences of false alarms
- Troubleshoot systems to locate problems, such as loose connections or broken wires/connections
- Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, and walls to reach fixture outlets; then position and terminate cables
- Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine material requirements and installation procedures
- Install, maintain, and repair security systems, alarm devices, or related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans
- Test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications
- Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, and all security features in order to ensure proper functioning, and to diagnose malfunctions
- As a representative of the company, conduct oneself in a professional, courteous manner at all times
- Work as part of a team, providing technical assistance to other field technicians as needed
- Keep informed of new products and developments
- Keep technical aptitude current
- Willing to participate in training to acquire new and/or more specialized skills

Necessary qualifications include:
- Possession of valid Driver’s License with good driving record
- Working knowledge of low voltage systems
- Self-starter and able to complete work accurately and timely with minimal supervision
- Able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and team members
- Able to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information
- Able to differentiate wire colors
- Willing to travel (overnights up to 25% of the time)
- Trustworthy, honest and reliable

Working conditions
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings with regular exposure to cold, heat, direct sunlight, hazardous electrical/specialty systems equipment and wiring, and elevated heights. Customers are located throughout the State and long days may be required.

Physical requirements
The position routinely requires standing for long periods of time (8—10 hours per day), stretching, reaching, pulling, stooping, climbing ladders, and lifting, sometimes up to 90 lbs
